I can be a fair distance away with a long lens (the majority of my proposal shoots) to avoid suspicion.
How a Surprise Proposal Photoshoot Works
Before the day, we’ll agree on the exact temple, location, timing and proposal spot. I’ll also make sure you know where to stand and what signal or sequence we’re using, so you don’t have to improvise when you arrive.
I will normally be in position before you arrive, photographing from a distance with a long lens. Depending on the plan, you may arrive independently or I can arrange a driver and licensed temple guide who already knows exactly what is happening.
When you reach the agreed location, you propose and I photograph the real reaction as it happens. I stay out of the way until the surprise is over.
Once you’ve had your moment together, I’ll approach and introduce myself. From there, the secret part is finished and we continue with a relaxed couples photoshoot around the temple.
Because a genuine surprise is unpredictable, you won’t always stand in precisely the position we’ve planned. The real moment always comes first. If necessary, we can then spend a few minutes creating additional photographs in the perfect position, without taking anything away from the real proposal we’ve just captured.

After booking, I will plan a photoshoot that fits you – whether you’d like to shoot at the famous Angkor Wat or a quieter temple, we will meet at Angkor Wat or another agreed location in the Angkor National Park or Siem Reap.
The experience is relaxed, natural, and fully guided. I’ll guide you and choose the best locations based on the light and time of day, help with posing, and capture authentic moments as we explore the temples on our photoshoot.
Whether it’s a sunrise session at Angkor Wat or a quieter spot nearby at Bayon or Ta Prom temple, the focus is on creating timeless images that feel natural, unforced, and uniquely yours. No experience is needed – just enjoy the moment, and I’ll take care of the rest.
After our photoshoot, You will receive your images via an online gallery – editing times vary but if you have a timeframe in mind just let us know.
Proposal Locations Beyond Angkor Wat
Angkor Wat is the obvious choice for many couples, but your proposal doesn’t have to take place at Angkor Wat itself.
The Angkor Archaeological Park contains dozens of temples, from famous locations such as Ta Prohm and Bayon to much smaller and quieter temples. If privacy is particularly important, a less-visited temple can sometimes be a better choice for a surprise proposal.
The right location depends on what you want from the moment: the iconic backdrop of Angkor Wat, a jungle setting, beautiful evening light, or somewhere with very few other people around.
I can help you choose a location based on the time of day, expected visitor numbers and the type of photographs you’d like.
One recent couple chose the small temple of Ta Nei specifically because they wanted somewhere quiet and private.
